Taraporewala Aquarium is one of the main attractions in the Mumbai city and India's oldest Aquarium. The aquarium is located on Marine Drive, it hosts freshwater and marine fishes. It was found on 9th May 1947 by the Honourable Chief Minister Mr. Balasaheb Kher. It took 3 years to complete construction of whole Aquarium.
It has a 360-degree long and 12-feet acrylic glass tunnel. Aquarium has Touch Pool which is only for exhibition and not for the handling of fishes though it is harmless to children, it is harmful to Aquatic Animal. The fish will be kept in large glass tanks, which will be lit with LED lights. The main attractions include sharks, turtles, moray eels, starfishes, and stingrays. A separate section contains some varieties of seashells and specimens of preserved fishes.
Timing and Entry Fee
The aquarium is located near Charni Road as well as Marine Lines station which is open to tourists for entire week except on Mondays.
Entry Timings: 10.30 AM - 8.00 PM.( Monday Closed )
Entry fee for Adults: 40 Rs.
Entry fee for Students: 20 Rs.
Entry fee for kids below age 16: 30Rs.
