For sure! Action Tour Guide’s Smoky Mountain Tours will guide you through all the most breathtaking sights.
Here are just a few of the incredible vistas along the route:
Clingmans Dome:
Clingmans Dome is the tallest mountain along the Appalachian Trail. So it’s already got a pretty great view. But the space-age observation tower at the top makes that view even better. The iconic Clingmans Dome tower offers a full 360-degree view of the surrounding wilderness. On clear days, you can see 100 miles in any direction. That means you can see seven different states from this one vantage point! It’s a rare opportunity to get a bird’s-eye view of the Appalachians.
Cades Cove:
Clingman’s Dome is the highest point in the Smokies, and Cades Cove is one of the lowest, but it’s nothing short of scenic. The Cove is a flat, four-thousand-acre meadow. The mountain skyline rises above the horizon in the distance, often shrouded in the Smokies’ trademark fog. Wildflowers and berry bushes frame the whole picture with greenery.
Inspiration Point:
How can Inspiration Point be anything short of magical with a name like that? It requires a little bit of hiking to get up here, but it’s worth it. The point faces Little Duck Hawk Ridge. “Duck hawk” is the historical name for what we now call the peregrine falcon—birds of prey that build nests on the cliff face of the ridge. The national park is a protected zone for falcons, so you’re not allowed to get too close. But you can get a good look at them from here if you bring your binoculars!
These are just three of the many picturesque places along the tour. All along the road, you’ll find “scenic overlooks” where you’re encouraged to park your vehicle and get a great view of the mountains all around you.
