Iceland government has introduced a kilometre-based road fee for vehicles under 3.5 tons; the official rate shown is 6.95 ISK per km (rates vary by vehicle).

NOTE: Due to recent volcanic activity, the Blue Lagoon is open but gas levels may be elevated. Enjoy the Blue Lagoon and plan your visit accordingly.Blue Lagoon requires a separate reservation to visit.

- Download the app (while in good Wi-Fi/signal) and use your unique password to access your tours. If multiple versions or entry points are available for your tour, be sure to download all the audio guides.
- Audio Setup: Connect your phone to the car stereo via Bluetooth, USB, or Aux, and bring headphones on walking tours. CarPlay and Android Auto are currently not supported; we’re working toward a solution with Apple.
- To begin touring, go to the starting point and launch the app.
- The audio starts automatically once you reach the starting point. Stick to the tour route and speed limit for the best experience.
- Please note that no one will meet you at the starting point.

You can complete some routes, like the Golden Circle, in a few hours, while others — like the South Coast or Ring Road — can stretch over multiple days. With no guide or schedule to follow, you decide how long to spend at each stop.
It depends on your interests:
- Summer (June-August): Longest daylight hours, best for hiking and general sightseeing. Northern Lights are not visible.
- Winter (September-March/mid-April): Best for Northern Lights viewing and ice cave tours. Shorter daylight hours limit sightseeing time.
- Shoulder Seasons (April-May & September-October): Can offer a balance of decent weather, fewer crowds, and potential for Northern Lights in the fall. Late April 2025 falls within the shoulder season, with increasing daylight and a chance for some Northern Lights early in the night.
The currency is the Icelandic Króna (ISK). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, so you won’t need to carry large amounts of cash for food other expenses.
