About the Tour
Your route kicks off near Mt. Hood, then winds toward the charming community of Corbett and onto the Historic Columbia River Highway. Stop at the Vista House, perched high above the Columbia River Gorge with sweeping views, then continue to Forum Viewpoint and the thundering Multnomah Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in the nation.
Pause at Eagle Creek and Latourell Falls, where basalt cliffs frame spectacular cascades. Then, you’ll pass Shepperds Dell Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and the trailhead to Angels Rest. Along the way, hear the stories behind Wahkeena Falls, the mossy depths of Oneonta Gorge, and Horsetail Falls, each with its own unique beauty and history.
Further on, you’ll reach Bonneville and Cascade Locks, gateways to the legendary Pacific Crest Trail. Pause at Starvation Creek to admire yet another waterfall before arriving in Hood River, known for its outdoor recreation, windsurfing culture, and local brewing tradition at Full Sail Brewing.
From here, journey into the fertile Hood River Valley, where orchards and vineyards thrive beneath the watchful peak of Mt. Hood. High above, explore the historic Cloud Cap Inn, trek near the wildflower meadows of Elk Meadows, and see the volcanic feature known as Devils Kitchen.
Follow the route of pioneers along the historic Barlow Road before reaching the alpine beauty of Trillium Lake, a perfect mirror to Oregon’s tallest mountain. Then, climb to the slopes of Timberline Lodge, a historic ski destination and architectural gem.
Continue to Mirror Lake, the town of Zigzag, and the curious formation of Silent Rock, where local lore adds to the mystery. Your final stop is Ramona Falls, where mountain waters tumble into a lush, moss-covered amphitheater.
Your tour concludes here, having circled through the waterfalls, forests, peaks, and history that make the Mount Hood Scenic Loop one of Oregon’s most unforgettable drives.
