About the Tour
Your tour of the San Antonio Riverwalk begins on the riverwalk, just outside the Riverwalk Shopping Center at 159 Dolorosa, San Antonio. From there, you’ll follow this scenic waterside trail and admire the Stargazer statue, which offers a glimpse into San Antonio’s distant past. Then, visit the Labor Plaza to learn about some of the city’s most important 20th century figures.
Continue on to La Villita Historic Village, San Antonio’s first neighborhood, where restored adobe buildings house all kinds of art and fine handicrafts.
Cross Rosita’s Bridge and pause at Marriage Island, a romantic riverside spot popular for weddings. Then head to the Main Plaza, the city’s historic heart. On the way there, you’ll hear all about the embattled history of Texas, from the Spanish occupation to Mexican independence and the Texas Revolution.
Next, marvel at San Antonio City Hall and stroll through the area where the Presidio of San Antonio once stood, a Spanish military outpost that shaped the city’s development. Then, see the Spanish Governor’s Palace, a preserved 18th-century residence.
No trip is complete without a stop at The Alamo, the legendary site of the 1836 battle that lives on to this day in the Texan identity. Your tour concludes at the Alamo after a dramatic account of this heroic struggle.
