The main tour explores the South Unit of this park, but also features a few bonus stops in the more remote North Unit.
Kick off your journey at the South Unit Visitor Center, where you’ll get acquainted with the park’s layout and history. Next, visit Maltese Cross Cabin, Theodore Roosevelt’s rugged home in the Dakotas.
Continue to Medora Overlook for spectacular views and birdwatching opportunities. Then, stop at Prairie Dog Metropolis to watch these energetic creatures at play. Skyline Vista then provides a perfect spot for panoramic photographs.
Dive into Roosevelt’s history in this region as you make your way to the beautiful Scoria Point Overlook. Then you’ll have the option to explore the terrain on foot at the Coal Vein Nature Trail.
Get to know wild characters like the Marquis de Morès, relive the true story of Roosevelt’s encounter with dangerous boat thieves, and much more. Then stop at Boicourt Overlook for unbelievable views.
At last, you’ll arrive at Peaceful Valley Ranch, where your tour will conclude.
