Ultimately, you’ll have to answer this question for yourself. However, in our humble opinion, there are a ton of Yoho National Park attractions that are well worth seeing and we encourage you to take the trip. Named after a Cree exclamation of wonder and amazement, Yoho showcases the beauty of the Canadian Rockies like few other places. Some of the tallest and most impressive mountains in the Rockies, including 11,703-foot Mount Goodsir, are located in the park, as well as plenty of other gorgeous natural features.
Emerald Lake is one of the most beloved attractions in Yoho National Park. Emerald Lake, so named for its distinctive deep green water, has a distinct and delicate microclimate that supports stunning floral displays. There’s an easy hiking trail that runs all the way around the lake—one of our most recommended things to do in Yoho.
The Kicking Horse River runs through Yoho National Park and features several viewpoints that are worth visiting. We strongly advise visiting the 98-foot-tall Wapta Falls as well as the Natural Bridge, a rock bridge that the rushing water carved out. Wapta is also the site of the horse-kicking accident that gave the river its iconic name.
While Wapta Falls is the tallest waterfall on the Kicking Horse River, it pales in comparison to nearby Takkakaw Falls, the highest in the park. Named after the Cree word for “wonderful” or “magnificent,” Takkakaw Falls stands 1,224 feet tall, making it the second-tallest waterfall in Canada. The falls are easily accessible from the parking lot and can be reached with strollers or wheelchairs, making them one of the better attractions for people with limited mobility.
